Given that I'm six months into my Sinemia membership, I wanted to give you a quick update on my experience as a Sinemia user. To put it simply, I'm already ahead of game saving money and enjoying more movies on the big screen than in previous years. The movie theater is better than ever with stadium seating, reservations in advance, Dolby digital sound, and reclining seats! Perfect for the blockbusters that the studios are pushing out each and every month. If you go to 4+ movies per year, this membership is a no brainer.
Positive changes: family plans and unlimited
If you didn't read my initial review, you may want to check it out Sinemia review: how to go to the movies for $5 or less. I won't rehash the pricing structure here but I go in depth to the service in that post. The positive change that Sinemia has today is family plans. When I signed up in May, you could only do an individual or couple membership. Today they have family plans of up to 6 tickets so it is much simpler for those with families.
Sinemia is also entering the fray with a movie a day plan to compete with the nearly bankrupt Moviepass. The Sinemia movie a day plan is $29.99 month and only good for those who will watch more than 5 movies per month. Why 5? Because you can sign up for a 3 movie plan for just $9.99 month. This is probably sufficient for 95% of the population.
Sinemia: 6 months in and already saving money
Let's take a look at my Sinemia experience. My subscription cost $59.88 and I've seen 6 movies at $14 a ticket which would have cost me $84. For my wife and I, we have saved about $50 and have seen more movies this year than we probably saw in the previous three years combined. My daughter only saw 3 movies so far so she is about 1 movie away from breaking even on her membership. We are already saving money so whatever we see over the next 6 months is pure gravy. We are looking forward to the 2019 releases of Toy Story 4, Lion King and Star Wars Episode 9.
